New Array for Screening SH3 Domain-protein Interactions

Redwood City, Calif. August 1, 2002—Panomics, Inc. introduces the SH3 Domain Array II. With this new array, you can determine whether your protein of interest binds to 37 different SH3 domains—all in one experiment. The SH3 Domain Array I, which includes 38 different SH3 domains, is also available.

The procedure is simple and straightforward: express a protein of interest in bacteria, then hybridize the extract with the Array membrane, upon which SH3 domains have been immobilized. With Panomics’ novel, proprietary technology, protein interactions literally take place on the array membrane. The results can be visualized using x-ray film or a chemiluminescent imaging system. All detection reagents are included.

Interactions between proteins and SH3 domains are of interest to researchers in many fields, from signal transduction to AIDS research. However, Panomics’ technology can be used for detecting interactions between proteins and other domains. The SH3 Domain Arrays are the first in a series of arrays for detecting protein-protein interactions.
