Frank Witney, Ph.D.

President & Chief Executive Officer

Frank brings to Panomics 20 years of experience in leadership and innovation in the life science industry. Prior to joining Panomics, Frank was President of Drug Discovery Tools at PerkinElmer Life Sciences where he had management responsibility for the reagent and instrument businesses that included high-throughput screening, research products, genomics/proteomics and liquid handling automation. Frank assumed this position after PerkinElmer's acquisition of Packard BioScience, where previously he was President and Chief Operating Officer. At Packard, Frank was responsible for the company's global operations, including research and development, manufacturing, marketing, and worldwide sales. During his tenure, Packard achieved rapid growth in revenues and operating profits. From 1983-2000, Frank held a series of management positions at Bio-Rad Laboratories and led the company's efforts to enter rapidly growing markets for proteomic and bioassay technologies, most recently as Group Operations Manager of the Life Science Group. Frank was a post-doctoral fellow at the National Institutes of Health and holds a doctorate in molecular and cell biology from Indiana University.

George Bers

Executive Vice President, Commercial Operations

George's career in the life science industry spans 30 years and includes general management expertise in drug discovery and clinical diagnostic product development, marketing and sales. He has had broad experience in life science technology and product areas, including proteomics, genomics and cellular analysis. George has held senior management positions that include President and CEO of NuGEN Technologies; Vice President, Systems Biology Business Center and President, Life Science Research Division of Beckman Coulter; Vice President, Business Development of Nanogen; and Vice President, Group Manager Clinical Diagnostics and Vice President, Group Manager Molecular Biosystems of Bio-Rad Laboratories. George received his BA from Duke University and an MS in Biochemistry from Georgetown University. He is also a graduate of the Stanford Business School Executive Management Program and has served on the Board of the Analytical and Life Science Systems Association (ALSSA).

Gary McMaster, Ph.D.

Chief Scientific Officer

Gary brings more than 20 years of experience in drug discovery research and life science technologies to Panomics, holding senior management positions at a number of leading pharmaceutical companies. At Eli Lilly, Gary was responsible for defining and implementing the company's research technologies and systems biology programs, including the integration of novel life science technologies for the company's target discovery research. Previously, he was Senior Director of Molecular Biology for Pfizer, where he oversaw the application of technologies and genomics research for drug discovery. Gary also spent 10 years at Novartis and Ciba-Geigy. During his tenure there, he held positions of increasing responsibility including Head of CNS Molecular and Cell Biology and Head of Neurodegenerative Diseases. His leadership experience also includes research management positions at the Max-Planck Institute for Immunology and Hoffman-La Roche Pharmaceuticals. Gary received his doctorate in developmental biology from the Swiss Institute for Experimental Cancer Research and is an author of more than 40 peer-reviewed scientific publications and numerous world and United States patents.

Ian Ley

Vice President, Marketing

Ian joins Panomics from Beckman Coulter, having served most recently as Director of the Cellular Analysis Research business. He has held a variety of international sales and marketing roles of increasing seniority over the previous10 years, gaining broad experience of general sales and marketing management, strategic planning, and business development. Previous to Beckman Ian held various sales positions for J.T. Baker (UK) and VG Analytical Ltd which followed time as a part-time lecturer at the University of Central Lancashire. Ian received his B.Sc (Hons) from Liverpool University in applied chemistry, following this with post graduate research, focusing on retro synthetic analysis of natural products for therapeutic use, at the University of Central Lancashire. He was also the founder and chief consultant of the international Proficiency Testing Scheme for laser diffraction analysis.

Yuling Luo, Ph.D.

Senior Advisor

Yuling has over 14 years of experience in life science research. Previously Yuling is a founder and Senior Advisor to the company for functional genomics, including the b-DNA based products QuantiGene, QuantiGene Plex. In addition, Yuling is involved in developing advanced generations of bDNA products and its application to biomarker discovery. Examples of the later include gene expression analysis from formalin fixed paraffin embedded (FFPE) and blood samples.

Yuling was a Senior Scientist at Exelixis, where he led a team of scientists to identify and validate novel therapeutic targets. Here he developed biochemical and cell-based assays for target validation and compound screening. His expertise encompasses nucleic acid assays, gene expression, gene regulation and mutagenesis, protein structure-function analysis, protein engineering, and drug discovery. Yuling has published his work in peer-reviewed journals including Cell, Neuron and JBC. His inventions are the subject of over a dozen patents and patent pending applications. Yuling received his doctorate in biochemistry from Case Western Reserve University and conducted post-doctoral research at the University of Pennsylvania.

Mark TenBoer

Vice President, Finance

Mark has over 25 years of financial management experience in a wide variety of public and private companies. Prior to joining Panomics, Mark was acting Director of Finance for Galileo Pharmaceuticals, a leader in redox pharmacology. He has extensive experience in high-growth, startup environments and has provided CFO services to Redline Networks, RightOrder, and Salira Optical Franklin Select Realty Trust, which in 1999, provided the highest total return to shareholders of all publicly traded REITs. In 2000, he was instrumental in selling the company in an all-cash transaction that distributed over $146 million to the shareholders. Mark has extensive public company experience and also has public accounting experience with Deloitte & Touche. Mark has a bachelor's degree in Accounting from the University of Illinois, and is a Certified Public Accountant.

Pam DeLucchi

Vice President, Operations and Quality

Pam joins Panomics from Clontech Laboratories, Inc. where she began her career in the life sciences industry 20 years ago. She initially started in R&D developing various products for the molecular biology research market. She then moved on to establishing Clontech's Manufacturing Organization, which also included Process Development and Product Transfer from R&D into Operations. In addition, Pam played a key role in Clontech's Quality Operations, helping to obtain ISO certification. Most recently, she held the role of Director of Program Management in which she was responsible for programs such as establishing a new Product Development Process and Business Integration Program post-acquisition. Pam earned her Bachelor's degree in Biology from University of California, Santa Cruz and Master's degree in Microbiology and Genetic Engineering from San Francisco State University.

Julie Xing, Ph.D.

Vice President, Asia Pacific

Julie brings more than 10 years of experience in research, clinical- and business management to Panomics. Prior to joining Panomics, Julie was the founding General Manager of Illumina China. At Illumina, Julie lead a team including sales, marketing, technical support and operations making significant contributions to the rapid growth of Illumina business in the Greater China territory. Previously, she served as clinical project manager at US AIDS Resource center in Palo Alto, California managing multiple infectious disease-related drug- and device trials. Julie's leadership experience also includes the position as CSO of Hong Kong DNA Chips Ltd., where she was responsible for product development of diagnostic kits. Julie did post-doctoral research at both Harvard University and Stanford Medical School and holds a doctorate in Biology from The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology.
